I know what you all are thinking. Its late night, and I am giving a Taco Bell 5 stars. I must be stoned out of my gourds right now. Well, rest assured, I am not! This place is about 5 minutes from my work, and I tell you what, this is the most consistent (knock on wood) and pleasant TB I have ever been to. In fact, they could serve me dirty toilet water and I may even consume it. I know, that was too far. The drive through, I have never spent more than 5 minutes in, and they are always cheerful when taking my order and payment. They have yet to mess up my order and they seem to remember me. Worth sharing since solid service T fast food places seem hard to come by these days!

What happened, Taco Bell?! This used to be a good place with happy staff that was quick and always got the order right. I used to go here every once in a while, then I stopped going. The last time I went here was about two days ago, around 11pm. We ordered some burritos, tacos, drinks, and a chalupa. We sat in line, waiting to pay but realized - I had meant to get two. One chalupa is too little. We get up to the window and ask the teenage girl if we can get a second one. And she goes "No, because we are already onto our next order!" ... What? Never in my life had I been told that. Did she mean that it's too hard to put the contents together and throw it in the bag? It surely isn't that hard. Nor did the tone need to be so awful. Also, they're always out of half the hot sauce flavors every time we go.

There is a young woman who works here, I think she might be a manager who is a ray of sunshine, if everyone acted like her the world would be a happier place

I went here based on reviews of people from cali, saying how it's similar to the food there. After going to Mexican Fiesta in San Diego, this has been my standard. I think Los Carboncitos is more close than Taco Star, but whatever. for 9 bucks i got three tacos and a med. size horchata. the carne asada was good, and there was a lot of steak, but the flavor was lack luster. Onto the second, pork carnitas, this was the best.. Nice and grilled with more flavor than the steak, and also large. The third, fish taco was a little better than a gorton's fish stick. No real flavor and i think they used tater sauce on it. The horchata was OK no real taste of cinnamon...just OK. the last thing i want to mention is the salsa, three kinds all bland and no heat. weak sauce overall i think this place is good, and the price for what you get is very good, but you are better off going to jack in the box across the street for a sourdough jack.

I moved to Colorado in 2009 from California and have been on the search for great Mexican food. I think I finally found it! I ordered the carne asada taco and chorizo with eggs plate. The carne asada taco was generously filled with steak and topped off with pico de gallo and Guacamole (could have done without the guacamole). Excellent! The chorizo with eggs plate was amazing. Big portions and great flavor. The flour tortilla they give with the plate is huge and tastes homemade. Finally found a place that makes their rice and beans taste like my favorite California Mexican food joints. Highly recommend.

The quality of the food seems to have declined in the last year. On my most recent visit, the Chorizo breakfast burrito was greasy. The grease was dripping out of the bottom end of the burrito and just wasn't doing it for me. I probably won't be going back.

Hailing from southern California, I have been terribly homesick for San Diego style taco shops. On a whim one night I decided to cruise through Taco Star. I was floored, the menu contains all of my SoCal favorites, rolled tacos with guac, carne asada chips, machaca, you name it, they have it, even delicious spicy carrots on the salsa bar. I have been back a few more times, dragging along my boyfriend (also from San Diego) and he was just as pleased as I was. The shocking thing is that this place is EMPTY every time we go. Dining room is open til 11 and drive thru is 24 hours. There's really not much else in the way of tasty food in this are, so by all rights Taco Star should be packed. Please, for the love of food, try this place, if you're a fan of taco shops, you really can't go wrong!

The service is good, people are nice. The xxl nachos though, is 90% chips 10% toppings, with about half of the chips dry and no topping left when done. What a 5$ joke.

Pretty cheap and fast. Ive tried most everything and nothing has ever been bad. They serve up large portions and are open 24-7. I love there red salsa and pickled carrrots.

This is my favorite guilty pleasure when I'm heading home from a late night at work. For under $8, I can get enough yummy food to completely gorge myself, have ample leftovers, and induce chest pains. The people there have always been ridiculously nice to me. One night, I got there about 10 minutes before they were closing. The door was unlocked, they let my guy and me stay there and eat, and they didn't even lock the door while we were still in there in order to keep other people from coming in. One star off for location. I live in downtown Denver, and the traffic light situation in Commerce City was almost enough to make me never come back after my first visit. If you're making a late-night trip and trying to get to Vasquez afterwards, my advice is to go around the back and get on Dexter rather than getting on 60th. I waited through 4 light rotations without getting a green and eventually ran the light because there was no other way out and the smell of my food was making me ravenous.

Taco star is the best drive thru ever. I usually get the super nachos and they are fantastic. 24 hours open. You are a fool if you go to mcdonalds. Come here instead.

Ask any San Diego transplant what they miss about home, and they will respond almost to a person "the food".. "The food" generally means 'bertos. Taco Star is about as close to 'bertos as you can get without being in San Diego. Great food..

Love this place! I used to work a few blocks away when it was Good Times/ Taco John and am so very sad I am missing having this place to eat. I went there today with my BFF and had an awesome lunch! The bunuelos were awesome!

Great beans n rice! Carnitas were good, tortillas a delight, pico fresh and the horchata helped it all go down. Pretty tasty! Drive thru taco shop in Denver!!!

Great food, large portions, at a decent price. Doesn't look all that appealing from the outside, and the tables look like they were reused from a remodeled fast food restaurant, but can't complain about the product. Probably too much food in a serving.

I like this place...there are places that are a bit cheaper but you get a good portion size, tasty, with a decent salsa bar.

Taco Star 4850 E 60th Ave, Commerce City (303) 227-9050 The restaurant looked clean and local so I thought I'd give it a try. When I walked in the prices looked good and inexpensive and was serving Pepsi Products (with Dr. Pepper not Mr. Pibb ). I ordered a mixed enchilada plate (1 chicken and 1 cheese) and a chili rellenos smothered with green chili. The enchiladas were OK, it wasn't very warm and the cheese was melted on the outside or the inside. They were trying for the meals you order at sit down restaurant had a feeling of eating from a picnic with the Styrofoam plates, and plastic silverware. The salsa bar was well stocked, but the medium sauce was almost the same thing at the green chili only cold. The chili rellenos was heavily breaded and had very little cheese smothered with green chili which reminded me of blended green chili's with a few spices and water. There were very people who came in during the lunch hour and wouldn't be surprised if it isn't in business long. I looked at other review for Taco Star and am wondering if it is the same chain. Sorry to disagree with the other reviewers but either the chain food has sub standard food or the Commerce City location is putting the chain to shame.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate.
